Ramblings.

So, yesterday...it was the first day of school. I have one in high school, one in middle school (although, I don't really consider it middle school middle school, she's only in 5th grade, afterall), two in elementary school and one wee little babe still holding down her side-kick gig.

I like my little side-kick.

She watched all of her older siblings go off on special days with mama, and because she is all wise and stuff at 4 years old instead of just an unknowing 3 year old, she got sad this year. Sad that she didn't get a day with mom.

I promised her that when the kids went to school, she and I would go do a little shopping...and pretty soon she started whispering, "When all those grimey kids go to school, then we'll go, mama?!"

Yup.

And so we did. And we had lunch. And she was the recipient of some cute clothes.

Then, my husband called to proposition me.

Oh, now STOP IT! He just needed a little techie help with setting up Skype for a potential something or other that may or may not be happening. And, really, I'm not being vague. That's just about as much as I know about it. "Something or other that may or may not be happening."

I've learned it's best to just keep my nose out of business...most of the time.

Anyway, sorry about the hiatus from Gram's Recipes...I had intentions of posting this week, but got too busy! Tomorrow though? "Pork and Apple Pie" which isn't nearly as skeery as it sounds...it's a meal. And it is FAB-U-LOUS!!!

Oh, and that photo above? Yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with this post...I just really like it. And, I really like the kid in it.

G'night!

  1. Here I am wondering how I'm going to handle my two being at two different schools, and you have four at three schools and one at home. Kudos to you for making it all work!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
